2026 Nissan Altima: Yup, It Lives

We thought it was dead. Yet here it remains. The 2026 Nissan Altima brings minor updates with the discontinuation of the S and SL trims, leaving only the SV and SR left. Meanwhile, the Midnight Edition returns based on the SR trim. It includes blackout exterior details, darkened window trim, black badges, a contrasting black roof, and black 19-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the Altima Midnight Edition includes standard dual-zone climate control and a moonroof. Four exterior color choices are offered on the Midnight Edition: Super Black, Pearl White TriCoat, Tactical Green, and Gray Sky Pearl.

Starting at $28,825 for the SV trim, the 2026 Nissan Altima comes with plenty of standard equipment. These include remote start, an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Safety Shield 360 driver assistance suite. The optional SV Special Edition package adds a moonroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone climate control. On the other hand, the SV Premium package adds heated front seats and the ProPilot Assist hands-on driver assistance system.

For tighter handling, the SR trim adds a sport-tuned suspension, Active Ride Control, and Intelligent Trace Control. It also features paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SR Premium Package adds a nine-speaker Bose premium audio system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a surround-view camera, and more. To further distinguish the Altima SR as the sporty one, it includes sport exhaust tips, front sport seats with contrast stitching, and gloss black exterior trim.

As before, the Altima comes powered exclusively by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 188 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque in FWD models. Opting for AWD drops output slightly to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft. A CVT is the only transmission available. Fully loaded, an Altima SR will run you over $35,000. Furthermore, AWD costs $1,400 extra on either trim. The 2026 Altima is on sale now.
