2027 BMW iX3 Goes Far, Costs Less Than X3 M50

It’s official. The 2027 BMW iX3 has a price tag and a crazy long driving range. Launching first in 50 xDrive guise, which has a dual-motor AWD setup making 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque, the first Neue Klasse model makes a strong first impression. Let’s start with its price tag. At $62,850 to start, this costs a whopping $5,000 less than the gas-powered X3 M50 xDrive, yet it has way more power and comes generously equipped by BMW standards. Load up both the iX3 50 xDrive and the X3 M50 xDrive, and you’re looking at around $80,000 for either SUV. That’s right, BMW’s most advanced battery-electric vehicle has achieved price parity with its most popular model.

The 2027 BMW iX3 is the latest vehicle to attain price parity with a similar model. Earlier this year, Lexus announced pricing for the 2026 ES sedan. The big surprise there? The EV is cheaper than the hybrid. Joining Lexus and BMW is Volvo, which revealed that a mid-grade EX60 will cost around $60,000, lower than a similarly equipped XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid. Heck, even some mainstream EVs cost similar to or less than an equivalent gas, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid. This includes the 2026 Toyota bZ, which recently shot up the sales chart, effectively becoming the best-selling non-Tesla EV as of the first quarter of 2026.

To further make the case for parity, the iX3 has an incredible driving range. When equipped with 20-inch wheels and summer tires, it has an official EPA rating of 434 miles! All-season tires drop that to 383 miles. Want larger wheels? You still have an incredible driving range. Models with 21-inch wheels are rated for 398 miles on all-seasons or 399 miles with summer tires. The largest 22-inch wheel option yields 392 miles
