2025 Polestar 3 Update 2: Post-Orin Life

Last update, we discussed what it was like living with the 2025 Polestar 3 before its core computer upgrade. To say that things weren’t perfect would be correct because of all the bugs and random things it did. However, we recently got the new NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin core computer upgrade for our car, and we have thoughts. Additionally, it came with a massive over-the-air software update that added new functions.

So, what did our 2025 Polestar 3 receive? To put it simply, it got more processing power. The new Orin processor opens more possibilities and gives it what it lacked: a powerful computing system. As a result, the Android UI interface loads faster and works more seamlessly. It also responds to inputs more quickly. Those oddball bugs? Nearly all gone. We still have a couple here and there, but they’re quite rare now so we’re no longer restarting as often.

However, you still lack certain functions like steering wheel infotainment controls and a reverse tilt-down function for the side mirrors. On the bright side, the 3 now has auto-folding mirrors, Homelink, Park Assist Pilot, and you can now adjust the following distance for adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist.

With this new core computer, the 2025 Polestar 3 has the same upgradeability as the 2026 and 2027 models. This opens up more possibilities for new features to arrive via over-the-air update. We’re looking forward to experiencing more with the car and seeing how it ages with this upgrade. More importantly, kudos to Polestar (and Volvo) for going above and beyond for owners of early Polestar 3s and EX90s. This wasn’t necessary, yet they gave us an update that allows the 400-volt-based cars to stay up to date and improve over time

Stay tuned as we continue this ownership experience!
