It’s here. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe has returned as a battery-electric vehicle packed with Formula 1-based technologies and an 800-volt electric architecture. The sleek performance sedan is all about all-out performance in EV form.
At its heart are three axial flux motors developed by YASA, a British electric motor specialist owned by Mercedes-Benz. They feature a compact design that allows for greater packaging flexibility. So, how much power does the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe make? A lot. The GT 63 has a whopping 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque peak output. Meanwhile, the GT 55 has 805 hp and 1,328 lb-ft. Both variants can hit 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds. The motors are mounted within a high-performance electric drive unit on each axle, with the rear featuring two units combined with a single-stage planetary gearbox in a single housing. For added aural drama, the GT 4-Door Coupe features virtual gear changes paired with the sound of an AMG V8 engine.
Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe: Incredible Charging and Range
The AMG GT 4-Door Coupe also features battery tech inspired by Formula 1. Regardless of the model, it features a 106-kWh battery with a peak DC charging rate of 600 kW. This new pack features direct cell cooling using non-conductive oil that flows through each cylindrical cell to keep it at the ideal temperature. As a result, the GT 4-Door Coupe can do the 10 to 80 percent charge in just 11 minutes under ideal conditions. In the U.S., it’ll feature a standard NACS port.
So, how far can this beast travel? A surprisingly long distance. The GT 63 has a WLTP rating of up to 696 km or 432 miles. Meanwhile, the GT 55 can go up to 700 km or 435 miles. Expect the more conservative EPA ratings to land closer to 350 miles.

All About the Drive
To further heighten the fun factor, Mercedes added AMG Race Engineer. This system controls the software and hardware components for the powertrain and driving dynamics systems through two key modules. The AMG Race Engineer Core serves as the high-performance central chip. It controls all drive-related systems and optimizes them for a more rewarding drive. Meanwhile, the AMG Race Engineer Control Unit allows the driver to customize every aspect of the vehicle, adding an extensive layer of personalization to the driving experience. It also features three different programs that yield different driving characteristics.
To further highlight its performance credentials, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe features a multilink suspension. Additionally, extensive use of aluminum cuts unsprung mass and improves stability and lateral dynamics. On the GT 55, AMG Ride Control+ air suspension is standard, while the GT 63 uses the more sophisticated AMG Active Ride Control. The latter can raise or lower the vehicle as needed. Meanwhile, active rear-wheel steering improves high-speed stability and low-speed maneuverability by allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 6 degrees. Its responsiveness also varies based on the drive mode, with AMGFORCE Sport+ mode being the most direct and quickest.
AMG Performance 4Matic+ comes standard on the GT 4-Door Coupe. This fully variable AWD system optimizes torque distribution between both axles, taking into account the driving situation. It also features torque vectoring capabilities by distributing power individually between each rear wheel. Additionally, the system can seamlessly switch between RWD and AWD modes as needed, thanks to an intelligent matrix. This handles all control algorithms in the vehicle architecture, ensuring optimum stability and performance. When it’s time to stop, standard high-performance hydraulic composite brakes do the deed. This combines carbon ceramic front with steel rear discs for consistent precision and brake pedal feel.
Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe: Purposeful Design
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe’s exterior immediately screams supercar with four doors. It takes the outgoing car’s design and thoroughly evolves it into a svelte, curvaceous vehicle that looks like a proper performance machine. It features the latest Mercedes design language, complete with front and rear LED daytime running lights patterned after the brand’s three-pointed star logo. Additionally, distinct AMG touches like a faux grille with vertical slats and available illumination are featured. A hood with dual power domes hints at its motorsport heritage. Furthermore, its wheel options, which measure 20 to 21 inches in diameter, feature aerodynamically optimized designs that improve range, especially when paired with optimized tires.
Active aero plays a key role in the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. The Aerokinetics bring functional elements like underbody panels that lower to precisely control air flow and increase downforce. This effectively sucks down the vehicle, improving stability and cornering speeds. Meanwhile, an active rear spoiler helps improve the car’s road manners by raising and lowering as needed to maximize handling stability and downforce. On the other hand, the Airpanel air management system uses vertical louvers that open and close to direct air flow based on cooling requirements. The Airpanel only activates when needed to maximize driving range.

A Cockpit Designed for the Driver
As expected of a high-performance super sedan, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe features a driver-centric layout. It features dual displays, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, and a 14-inch main touchscreen. The latter is angled towards the driver. You can also opt for a 14-inch display for the front passenger. Three knobs adorn the center console, which control certain drive mode functions on the GT 63. Meanwhile, massive knobs surround the outer air vents and are used for the climate control vents.
Newly developed front sport seats optimize support and comfort. For those wanting the sportiest setup, choose the available AMG Performance seats with integrated headrests. A flat-bottom AMG Performance steering wheel further emphasizes the GT 4-Door Coupe’s performance intentions. You can even get it in carbon fiber and with two round AMG Drive Unit buttons. Meanwhile, the rear seats accommodate two and have been designed for long-distance comfort. Additionally, a three-position bench is available.
To bring added airiness, the panoramic glass roof extends all the way to the rear window. An available Sky Control feature can put on a light display that ranges from the AMG crest to racing stripes. Ambient lighting complements this with unique themes and backgrounds for a more personalized space.
Intuitive Tech
As with other recent debuts from Mercedes-Benz, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe features the latest version of the MBUX interface. It features AMG-specific sub-screens to give the car a more unique cabin. The rest of the system remains familiar. In addition to its zero-layer setup, the system integrated artificial intelligence by combining multiple agents into one, including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and more. A Burmester High-End 4D premium audio system is also available.
Exclusive to the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the AMG Performance Menu. This provides the driver with real-time driving and powertrain information, including what the powertrain, rear spoiler, Aerokinentics system, and Airpanel systems are doing. It also allows you to tailor the driving experience based on your individual preferences, including what’s in the AMG Drive Unit buttons. Additionally, an Aero setup menu gives you additional control over the car’s active aero, while a sound slider lets you change the volume of the augmented sounds. Want to record more than 80 vehicle data points 10 times per second while driving on track? Do that with the AMG Track Pace. You can also add a dashcam and have it record videos into a USB port.
Need additional ways to help you get the most out of your track days? The Predictive Performance Manager helps you optimize energy flow with two modes: Endurance and Hot Lap, allowing you to tailor the vehicle based on the course. Additionally, there are seven drive modes on the AMG Dynamic Select program. This also includes Eco mode, a first for a Mercedes-AMG vehicle. You can also access Launch Control in Race and AMGFORCE Sport+ modes. And for those times that require the full powertrain output, hold down both paddles in Comfort, Sport, or AMGFORCE Sport+ modes to access the boost function.
