2026 Subaru Uncharted GT

2026 Subaru Uncharted GT Long-Term Introduction: Rally EV?

The updated iteration of the Toyobaru battery-electric vehicle family has arrived in our garage! This time, we got the smaller and sportier 2026 Subaru Uncharted in GT trim. Despite arriving late to the EV party with a product that most would deem middling, we loved our 2023 Solterra. It more than satisfied our requirements and was a great daily driver. It even made several trips to Palm Springs and San Diego! Moreover, we consistently beat our Touring trim’s 222-mile EPA driving range ratings, averaging around 250 miles.

As the Solterra’s lease drew closer to its end, we began our search for a worthy replacement. Subaru and Toyota’s heavily updated EV family were just revealed as we started looking. After several months and a couple of test drives, we found the successor: another member of the Toyota-Subaru EV family. This time, it’s the Solterra’s smaller sibling, the Uncharted, a cousin to the Toyota C-HR. From its size to its road manners, we knew this was it. Even after driving cars like the Cadillac Optiq, we still went with the pint-sized electric Subaru because it checked every box.

2026 Subaru Uncharted GT: What We Got

Let’s review the specifications of the latest garage addition. If you didn’t read the title, we got the GT trim, the range-topping model in the Uncharted lineup. It comes standard with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic glass roof, and more. You can also distinguish the GT model from the Premium and the Sport through its standard 20-inch alloy wheels. Every Uncharted comes with the EyeSight driver assistance suite. The GT model adds front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and traffic jam assist. However, that last one requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription, which costs $16.

On the infotainment front, every Uncharted comes with a re-skinned version of Toyota’s infotainment system featuring a 14-inch touchscreen. The GT model also has an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. However, the software/operating system is older than what’s used on the upcoming three-row electric SUVs and the 2026 Lexus ES. That means no EV route planning on any model, a feature we hope Toyota and Subaru add later on via a software update. Additionally, the Subaru models lack EV route planning on Apple Maps, something that their Toyota and Lexus cousins have. All told, our GT model checked in at just a smidge over $46,000 with accessories.

A Positively Electrifying Start

Now for the nerdy bits. Our 2026 Uncharted GT comes standard with a 74.7-kWh battery, with only 65 kWh of usable capacity, according to reliable sources. It also has a standard dual-motor AWD configuration that makes 338 hp. Unlike the larger Trailseeker, the Uncharted and updated Solterra have a front-biased setup featuring a more powerful front electric motor. As far as driving range ratings go, the EPA rates the Uncharted GT at 273 miles. We think that’s conservative, though. Since taking delivery, we’ve noticed impressive efficiency. We’ll dive deeper into that at a later update once we’ve gotten more seat time.

So far, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted GT impressed everyone who’s driven it, including its primary driver, my mom. It’s quick, easy to maneuver, and surprisingly roomy despite its coupe-like shape, all big wins. We’re looking forward to many miles and smiles with this all-electric Toyobaru. From weekend trips to Palm Springs to simply going out for a drive, this little crossover will do it all. Stay tuned!
