We didn’t think the Kia Niro would come back for 2027, yet here it is. The Korean brand’s original dedicated electrified crossover returns with a fresh new look. Its revised front fascia dons vertical headlights with Kia’s Star Map lighting pattern. In addition, the rear end has a new liftgate and 3D taillights. Unfortunately, the C-pillar side blades no longer come in contrasting colors. Ivory Silver and Sunset Beige have been added to the exterior color options list.
Inside, the 2027 Kia Niro receives a new curved display. This includes a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, which drivers can pair with an optional 12.3-inch digital cluster. Additionally, higher trims now use the ccNc interface with over-the-air software update capability. Meanwhile, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models. Certain models also gain access to streaming services like YouTube and Netflix through an optional Entertainment and Data Services plan. Moreover, this subscription includes cool themes and Kia’s AI assistant.

A full suite of driver assistance features comes standard on the 2027 Niro. The SX Touring model now offers a surround-view camera system and Blind-Spot View Monitor. Furthermore, the SX and SX Touring now include Highway Driving Assist 2, which enhances adaptive cruise control with functions like steering assistance and automatic lane change capability.
Power comes exclusively from a familiar hybrid system. It couples a 1.6-liter I-4 to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, an electric motor, and a 1.32-kWh lithium-ion battery. Total system output checks in at 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Expect certain models to achieve over 50 mpg combined in the EPA cycle. When it goes on sale this summer, the Niro offers 5 variants, including the new S trim. Expect pricing to start in the low $20,000 range and top out in the mid-$30,000 range.
