Volvo EX90 and EX60 Gain Plus & Charge

Public charging for Volvo EX90 and EX60 owners in the United States just got even easier. The Swedish automaker just announced that Plug & Charge functionality has been added to both SUVs, bringing added simplicity to the charging experience. So, how does the feature work? Simply plug the car in to start a charging session. No need to use apps, swipe a card, or anything of that sort. Payment happens automatically.

This means more seamless public charging and less time dealing with apps. Volvo EX90 owners can take advantage of Plug & Charge today, while the EX60 gets the feature when it arrives later this year. For the moment, the only charging networks compatible are Tesla Superchargers and IONNA. However, that’s not a bad thing considering that they cover a big chunk of the national network. Volvo said that it will add more charging networks later on. Thanks to their Google Built-In interface, EX90 and EX60 owners can easily locate compatible chargers. The cars will even precondition the battery, bringing it to the ideal temperature for DC charging upon arrival. Additionally, Google Maps tells you your state of charge upon arrival, giving you added peace of mind.

There is a caveat, though. For 2025 EX90s, it must have the new NVIDIA Orin/Orin core computer. Otherwise, it’s not compatible with Plug & Charge. With that said, make sure your car has that. It’s a free upgrade for all 2025 EX90s and Polestar 3s. Don’t skip it! Even though Volvo has announced the feature for its vehicles, Polestar has not said anything with regard to its models. However, expect the 3 to get it soon. What about the Volvo EX30 and Polestar 4? Those ride on a different platform and may gain Plug & Charge later on. For now, it’s only EX90 and EX60.
