The first Bentley battery-electric vehicle is here, and it’s called the Torcal. This latest addition to the lineup takes the British brand’s design language toward the future. At the same time, it remains easily recognizable as a Bentley. A low-slung SUV, the Torcal takes cues from the Bentayga and brings modern details that make it unique. The split headlight arrangement gives this EV a fresh feel while staying on brand. Its main headlight clusters trade the round shape for a squared-off one with a slight curve at the bottom. Meanwhile, the faux grille lights up and pays tribute to Bentleys of the past. Wheel size options range up to 22 inches in diameter with all-season, summer, and winter tire options.
From the side, the Torcal’s aerodynamic shape and muscular flares stand out. On the other hand, the rear end, with its thin LED taillights, emphasizes its wide stance. Stepping inside, the cabin goes all in on the details. Materials like wool, leather, aluminum, and wood elevate its luxurious ambiance. Knurled controls and diamond patterns add to its exclusivity. Most importantly, they’re sustainably sourced. On the other hand, 16-way heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats provide maximum comfort behind the wheel of the Bentley Torcal. It even comes with adjustable bolsters! Additionally, the posture adjustment and smart seat climate systems help get the most out of every drive.
Bentley offers a wide range of tech features on the Tocal. This includes a full suite of driver assistance technologies, curved OLED displays, and an optional 28-speaker, 1,780-watt Naim premium audio system with Dolby Atmos 7.1. Each of the four drive modes can also change the cabin atmosphere. From the sporty sounds and visuals of Sport mode to a new Refresh mode, the Torcal is ready to match your feelings.
Bentley Torcal: Power Befitting of the Badge
When it arrives, the Torcal will be available in base and S variants. Both feature a 113-kWh battery backed by an 800-volt electrical architecture and a dual-motor AWD setup. The rear motor also includes a locking rear differential as standard. In terms of output, the Torcal S has 888 hp and 995 lb-ft of torque with Launch Control active, the most of any Bentley ever made. This allows it to sprint to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds. On the other hand, the standard Torcal “only” has 821 hp and 880 lb-ft, allowing it to hit 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. In terms of driving range, Bentley says the Torcal can go 375 miles. DC charging has a peak rate of 400 kW, allowing it to go from 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes.
A fully active suspension comes standard on every Torcal. This includes two-valve adaptive dampers for what Bentley calls a “true magic carpet ride.” Each damper can actively and independently raise or lower instantaneously, reacting to both the road and driver inputs. Additionally, this system negates the need for anti-roll bars, using reactive dampers to provide infinitely adjustable anti-roll torque. Furthermore, the rear wheel steering system can turn the rear wheels up to five degrees, resulting in a tighter turning circle.
On the braking front, 420 mm front and 370 mm rear discs come standard. You can also upgrade to a Carbon Silicon Carbide setup with 440 mm front and 410 mm rear discs. Additionally, black, red, or gray calipers are available, plus three additional colors through the Mulliner program.
