Nearly a year in and our 2025 Polestar 3 has excelled in so many ways. Last update, we raved about how much fun it is on a winding road, even without the optional Performance pack. Now, we’re here to tell you that it’s also an excellent road trip vehicle. Yep, this lifted wagon masquerading as a midsie SUV does it all.
Every year, we take several trips to Palm Springs for some retail therapy at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets or to explore the city’s museums and other cool attractions. No surprise, the 2025 Polestar 3 passed with flying colors. On Southern California’s broken freeway pavements, the 3 never lost its composure. It absorbs broken surfaces and road imperfections without any issue. With the dual-motor model’s standard active air suspension, the car does a fabulous job maintaining a supremely comfortable ride without sacrificing its responsive handling and stability. Together with its effortless power, the Polestar 3 cruises effortlessly.
To complement its refined highway manner, the Polestar 3 keeps everyone pampered. As expected of a Volvo-adjacent lifted wagon, supportive seats ensure you arrive refreshed. Even those in the rear enjoy superior comfort and lots of space for stretching out. It’s quiet, too. Even at highway speeds, the Polestar 3 remains vault quiet. Next to no noise enters the cabin, resulting in a truly luxurious ride, perfect for long-distance travel.
2025 Polestar 3: What About Range?
So the Polestar 3 is an excellent cruiser, but how far can it go? Glad you asked! According to the EPA, our example, which has 21-inch alloy wheels, is rated at 315 miles per charge. Not bad on paper. However, in real-world driving, we constantly go farther in mixed and city driving, consistently averaging 350 miles. Unsuprisingly highway driving uses more energy, but not much more than we thought. We still match the EPA ratings, sometimes even beat it.
In terms of efficiency, highway driving hovers around 3 to 3.5 miles per kWh. Mixed and city driving raises that to around 3.7 to 4.2 miles per kWh. Keep in mind that your driving style makes a huge impact on your efficiency. We tend to average between 2 to 5 mph above the speed limit, depending on traffic flow. Going faster on the highway or your favorite winding road is fun, but comes at a huge cost to efficiency.
