2027 Audi Q7 First Look: Versatile and Powerful

The 2027 Audi Q7 has arrived, and it comes packing a fresh new look and plenty of tech. Audi’s third-generation SUV features a fresh new look that takes plenty of cues from the smaller Q3 and Q6. That means it now features a split headlight design and a massive Singleframe grille. Unlike its predecessors, the latest Q7 ditches the curves for a boxy and upright profile. As a result, it looks more imposing than before. In the back, the Q7 features a similar taillight treatment to the Q3, mimicking the split design up front. Looking for a sportier look? That’s where the S line Black Exterior package comes in with its distinct blackout look. In terms of wheel sizes, you can go up to 22 or 23 inches, and either all-season or summer performance tires.

However, the big news for the Q7’s exterior is the lighting. For the first time, a U.S.-spec Audi features Matrix LED headlights with micro-LED modules, adaptive driving beams, and OLED taillights with communication lighting. This allows the Q7 to have cool three-dimensional lighting effects, including projecting the turn signal on the ground.

2027 Audi Q7: Luxurious and Techy

Stepping inside the 2027 Q7, it’s all about luxury and versatility. It features seating for six or seven, depending on whether you choose a bench or captain’s chairs for the second row. Fold the second and third rows down, and cargo space grows from 15.1 to 78.1 cubic feet. You can also choose the optional sport seats plus for added support. Ventilated and massaging front seats bring additional comfort on those long drives. Want to customize your Q7’s cabin even more? No problem. Choose between several interior color themes, as well as wood and carbon fiber inlays. Ambient lighting brings some added pizzaz to the Q7’s interior, especially with the optional panoramic sunroof, which allows you to change its opacity and includes 78 LED lights embedded in it.

The 2027 Audi Q7 brings incredible tech. Its new MMI interface features a curved OLED touchscreen and an optional passenger display. Like current Audi models, it features an app store with a full range of available apps from music to gaming and productivity. It also features an Audi Connect nav subscription and the AI-powered Audi Assistant. Certain models include an integrated dash cam. For the audiophiles, the Q7 offers a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D premium audio system with 1,360 watts. It even syncs the ambient lighting with the track playing for added drama inside the cabin.

On the driver assistance front, the Q7 offers a full suite, including surround-view cameras and automatic parking. The SUV also features an option trailer maneuvering assist for steering assistance when reversing with a trailer attached. Additionally, Trained Parking allows drivers to teach the Q7 up to five individual parking maneuvers, allowing the car to remember how to get in and out of tricky spaces.

Powerful and Capable

When it goes on sale later this year, the Q7 will offer two engine options. A 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 serves as the base engine, featuring 429 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. That allows the SUV to hit 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Need more? The SQ7 features a revised 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 591 hp and 590 lb-ft, enabling it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Both engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the model, the Q7 can tow 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.

To complement all of that power, the Q7 can be equipped with an optional adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering. The latter improves low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability. As a result, the Q7 balances sporty handling and a smooth ride. The air suspension can also lower the ride height by 30 mm (1.1 inches) in the SQ7 for a sportier drive. Additionally, Q7s equipped with the air suspension can be lowered by 62 mm or 2.4 inches for easier entry and exit.

To help improve power delivery, the Q7’s rear-biased Quattro AWD system comes paired with a new limited-slip center differential with preload for improved traction, stability, and steering response. The SQ7 builds on that with an electronically controlled rear locking differential. Meanwhile, stopping power comes from 14.7-inch front and 13.7-inch rear brake discs. The SQ7 features 16.5-inch front and 14.9-inch rear discs.
