The 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness finally has a price tag. This rugged variant starts $39,385, similar to the Limited trim and just below the range-topping Touring model. To put this into perspective, the base Forester starts at $31,445. What does the Wilderness model get you? A lot more off-road capability. Subaru’s updated Symmetrical AWD system comes standard, as does a revised CVT with a shorter final drive ratio. The latter improves off-road performance at low speeds, especially combined with the standard dual-function X-Mode and standard all-terrain tires.
Every 2026 Subaru Forester Wilderness comes standard with improved approach, departure, and breakover angles. Credit its 9.3 inches of ground clearance, specially-tuned suspension, and trim-specific exterior details that help it get over the rough stuff. Additionally, towing capacity increases to 3,500 pounds thanks to that beefed-up CVT. Meanwhile, power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four with 180 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, the Forester Wilderness comes with plenty of copper accents to distinguish it from the rest of the lineup. Subaru’s StarTex water-resistant upholstery also comes standard, highlighting its outdoorsy nature. Additional features include all-weather floor mats, a cargo tray, and a nice helping of Wilderness badges. An 11.6-inch touchscreen comes standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Auto compatibility. Meanwhile, the only option package on the Wilderness model adds a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a power liftgate, and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
All in, a loaded Forester Wilderness checks in at $42,035. That’s $1,010 less than the range-topping Touring model. However, that model also comes with features like a surround view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated outboard rear seats. The Touring is also the only model that gets the DriverFocus driver monitoring system.
