Acura RSX Prototype to Debut at Monterey Car Week

Monterey Car Week is just around the corner. That’s where the Acura RSX Prototype makes its much-anticipated global debut. Acura already teased the RSX several months ago, posting a camouflaged photo of the car, which looked production-ready. This time around, we get a glimpse at its front end, which takes cues from the Performance EV Concept. From the looks of it, the RSX Prototype sports a split headlight design with LED DRL strips up top. The rest of the teaser shows a grille-free, NSX-inspired take on Acura’s signature face.

The Acura RSX Prototype previews the revival of another iconic nameplate from Honda’s luxury arm. This time, it’s morphed from a front-drive sport compact and into an all-electric coupe-like crossover. Additionally, it’s the second all-electric vehicle for the brand following the ZDX. Unlike the ZDX and its Honda Prologue cousin, Acura developed the RSX in-house, underpinned by Honda’s dedicated EV platform instead of using General Motors’ EV architecture. The RSX also debuts the ASIMO OS interface, first shown at the 2025 CES Show.

What’s more, the RSX becomes the first vehicle to enter production at Honda’s EV flexible manufacturing hub in Ohio. Currently, the facility assembles the Acura Integra compact premium sedan.

Acura RSX Prototype: Part of a Larger Electrification Effort

The RSX forms part of Honda’s electrification efforts, which include hybrids and all-electric vehicles. Currently, it only has the Prologue and the ZDX, both of which share underpinnings with General Motors’ latest EVs, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq. Honda’s Zero Series models follow the RSX as the next in-house-developed EVs, with a compact SUV arriving first. On the hybrid front, the Prelude joins the Civic, Accord, and CR-V. In other markets, Honda also offers a plug-in hybrid variant of the CR-V, the HR-V hybrid, as well as a selection of small EVs.
