Well, this was a surprise. At the official world premiere of its Magma subbrand, Genesis surprised the world with one heck of a sports car concept. The Genesis Magma GT Concept represents its commitment to high performance. However, we think this goes deeper than that or the “effortless performance” theme.
Featuring a mid-engine layout, the Genesis Magma GT Concept features the typical supercar proportions. It has a low-set hood and an elongated sloping roofline for that racecar-like profile. Meanwhile, its wide, muscular rear fenders get reinterpreted through the lens of Genesis’ “athletic elegance” design philosophy. On the other hand, the Magma GT Concept features a boat tail cabin that narrows at the rear. This helps maximize stance and emphasize its “low and wide” posture, adding to its menacing presence on the road. Additionally, front canards integrate seamlessly into the headlights, all while enhancing downforce and ensuring everyone knows this is a Genesis sports car. G-Matrix aero patterns that expand outward help optimize air flow while giving the Magma GT a visual signature. Finally, the mechanical two-line lamp graphic and a fully optimized air structure help add to its wide and planted look.

Genesis describes the Magma GT Concept as a manifesto and strategic beacon for the brand. It summarizes everything Genesis aims to achieve by entering motorsports while expanding its high-performance lineup. However, to us, this car looks way too close to production to rule out a limited run. Although it currently has the G90 sedan as its flagship, Genesis could benefit from having a halo model above it. Nothing gets pulses racing more than a sports car, especially one done right.
Genesis didn’t disclose specifications, but should the Magma GT Concept make it to production, expect big power, likely from a V8 engine, and a trick chassis.
