Mini Rooftop Edition Doubles Down On Contrast

The fifth of eight Mini special editions has arrived in the form of the Rooftop Edition. Think of this as an exercise in contrast applied to the iconic hatchback in two configuration. In one layout, the Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic exterior color comes pairs it with Melting Silver III Metallic side mirror caps, roof, and racing stripes. Meanwhile, the second version flips the color combo over. That means Melting Silver III Metallic complemented by Indigo Sunset Blue Metallic side mirror covers, racing stripes, and roof.

Inside, the Mini Rooftop Edition goes for a more restrained approach with a dark theme. It comes standard with John Cooper Works front sport seats in black Vescin knit upholstery paired with subtle detailing for the minimalist theme. This allows the exterior’s contrasting theme to stand out more, all while preserving the cabin’s premium ambiance. Production of the Rooftop Edition starts in September with deliveries starting in October. However, it will be a limited-run vehicle so you better reserve one now if you’re interested.

So, how much will the Rooftop Edition cost you? That depends on whether you choose the two-door or four-door hatchback. The former costs an eye-watering $41,345 because it’s based on the range-topping Iconic trim with the Favoured style. This means it comes with features like power-adjustable front seats, piano black interior trim, and 17-inch U-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires. The Comfort Package Plus also comes standard, which adds goodies like wireless charging, Parking Assistant Plus, built-in navigation with integrated augmented reality, and keyless entry.

Want a pair of extra doors to cram people you hate in the cramped back seats? That’ll cost you $42,345, or $1,000 more than the more conventional two-door variant. It also features the same interior appointments and exterior details as the two-door model.
