Mitsubishi has announced that it will introduce two new products in 2026. In addition to the previously announced EV, the brand confirmed the addition of an off-road-oriented model that builds upon the cosmetic upgrades of the Outlander Trail Edition. It also noted that a new version of its Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system will be introduced on that vehicle. Based on the teaser, it appears to be a variant of the Outlander. Even with the black drapes, the LED daytime running lights peeking through hint at that, especially with its boxy, upright profile and roof rails.
Although we don’t quite know any of the mechanical details, expect this Outlander variant to see the same updates as the recently refreshed model. That means it may use the new 1.5-liter turbo-four that replaced the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter on the standard model. However, we won’t be surprised if the brand decides to base this version on the excellent and more powerful plug-in hybrid variant. Additionally, expect it to receive other changes, including revised bumpers, tweaked suspension, and additional ground clearance.

As for the second vehicle, Mitsubishi previously announced it several months ago. However, we now have a clearer understanding of what it is. Based on its silhouette and LED daytime running light pattern, it’s a sister vehicle to the 2026 Nissan Leaf. Expect it to share the same battery options and single-motor, FWD configuration. In terms of design, it should feature a similar treatment to recently revealed Mitsubishi models. That means the basic shape remains identical. However, expect Mitsubishi to add its unique design details to spice things up and differentiate it from its Nissan sibling.
When these two vehicles start arriving in mid-2026, they’ll expand the lineup to six vehicles. That’s if you consider the Outlander variant a separate model.
