Just one year after the current generation’s debut, the Honda Passport receives major changes for 2027. The biggest one? A reengineered suspension. This increases the Passport’s ground clearance to 9.65 inches or 11.38 inches more than last year’s model. Additionally, its approach, departure, and breakover angles also improve. The former two improve by 2 degrees to 25 degrees. while the latter is now 23 degrees.
Honda engineers didn’t just add taller springs to the 2027 Passport. Instead, they reworked the suspension to ensure proper geometry to retain the SUV’s existing ride and handling characteristics while improving off-road performance. In total, 70 percent of major suspension components were redesigned, including springs, dampers, control arms, stabilizer bars, and knuckles. Engineers also reworked the front driveshaft and subframe to increase the ride height and wheel travel. In total, 28 suspension and related chassis parts on the Passport have been redesigned, reengineered, or completely new.
For 2027, the Passport’s TrailSport trims receive more standard features. These include a heated steering wheel and the TrailWatch camera system. The latter was originally exclusive to the TrailSport Elite trim. Additionally, the 2027 Passport’s TrailSport models are now available with the Blackout package. This adds black exterior badges, black 18-inch alloy wheels, and black front and rear fascias. Smoke Blue Pearl, which debuted on the Pilot, is now available on the Passport.
TrailSport and TrailSport Elite models receive some styling updates for 2027. These include more pronounced front and rear fender flares and a resculpted lower front fascia. Additionally, the 2027 Passport also adds amber LED hood scoop lights on the TrailSport and TrailSport Elite. Furthermore, the new Honda Trail Experience app helps owners of TrailSport models enhance their off-road adventures. This provides essential real-time vehicle data and advanced video capabilities all in one smartphone app.
