2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback

Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback is a Rebadged Nissan Leaf

Mitsubishi finally has a battery-electric vehicle back in its lineup, and it’s called the Eclipse Sportback. That’s right, another car bears the Eclipse name following the Eclipse Cross. This time, it’s essentially a rebadged Nissan Leaf. Arriving as a 2027 model, the Eclipse Sportback features unique design details to better distinguish it from its Nissan sibling.

Up front, it features a squared-off lower front fascia with what looks like two faux openings. The headlights feature the same shape, but it swaps the light bar for a different pattern and a Mitsubishi logo. In the rear, the Eclipse Sportback has a unique rear bumper that looks more aggressive than the Leaf’s. However, it loses the cool 2-3 three-dimensional pattern on the taillights. Instead, it has what looks like an arrow pattern. Like the Leaf, the Eclipse Cross has Mitsubishi spelled out on the liftgate. The car also features diamond-shaped three-spoke wheels.

2027 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sportback

The Eclipse Sportback is part of the Momentum 2030 plan that Mitsubishi announced in October of last year. It included several new models like the Eclipse Sportback. In early 2027, a rugged variant of the Outlander joins the lineup. Pricing and other details will be released at a later date, closer ot its on-sale date in late summer or early fall of this year. Based on the Leaf’s positioning, expect the Eclipse Sportback to offer a compelling starting price of around $30,000. That could make it one of the most affordable EVs in the North American market.

In terms of specs, don’t expect much to change versus the Leaf. That means FWD only, a single electric motor with 214 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque, and a 75-kWh battery. Expect the Eclipse Sportback’s EPA-estimated driving range rating to mirror that of the Leaf at up to 303 miles.
