Mitsubishi has strengthened its Momentum 2030 plan. Initially revealed with only two models joining the lineup, including the Eclipse Sportback and an off-road-oriented Outlander variant, it appears more are on the way. This will expand the brand’s offerings. Currently, Mitsubishi’s U.S. lineup consists of the Eclipse Cross, Outlander Sport, and the Outlander in both gas and plug-in hybrid variants. The off-road-focused model will be the third variant for the Outlander lineup. It arrives in the coming months.
Quite possibly the biggest news is Mitsubishi confirming its intention to return to the trucks segment in the U.S. It will be do so with the help of Nissan, as both brands continue working together closely. You can see the truck in the included teaser image with its LED daytime running lights, which look eerily similar to the Frontier’s. Additionally, a new Pajero debuts next month. However, the automaker did not confirm it for the U.S. market. The next vehicle to arrive is the Eclipse Sportback, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Nissan Leaf.
The press release kept things at the minimum, but the teaser image? Oh, it hinted more at what’s coming. The off-road-oriented Outlander is right up front next to the standard model and it looks like it comes with a unique LED daytime running light pattern. To the very far right is a small crossover that may be the next-generation Outlander Sport. It features a boxy, upright exterior and has three LED light bars for daytime running lights. Finally, at the back to the right of the truck is a large SUV that may confirm the Pajero for the U.S., likely rebadged as the Montero.There is one vehicle missing though: the next Eclipse Cross, which will likely soldier on longer before receiving a full redesign.
