Genesis GV60 Magma Arrives With Power and Poise

Genesis’ Magma sub-brand has officially arrived with its first high-performance model. Meet the Genesis GV60 Magma, the hottest variant of the all-electric SUV to date. This hot rod represents the philosophy and core technical vision for the Magma lineup. Design must be dynamic yet elegant through a low, wide stance. The driving sensation yields drivers precise power and vehicle behavior control for seamless movement in any driving condition. Finally, the user experience remains intuitive through the intuitive delivery of key data and enhances focus by making the drive immersive.

Compared to the standard GV60, the Genesis GV60 Magma features a redesigned bumper with a three-hole structure. This enhances airflow and cooling performance, but also serves as a distinct identifying feature on the Magma model. Black high-gloss moldings, dark metal accents, and streamlined canards add to its sporty looks. Meanwhile, the 20 mm lower ride height and wide fenders emphasize wide proportions, especially with the standard 21-inch alloy wheels and 275 mm tires. On the other hand, the rear spoiler generates downforce, while the redesigned rear bumper enhances aerodynamic performance. Inside, the GV60 Magma features Chamude trim, a suede-like material, and plenty of orange and grey stitching and quilting details. It also includes a distinct wheel, black badges, and a boost button.

Genesis GV60 Magma: Supercar Performance

Genesis positioned the GV60 Magma as one of the highest-performing vehicles within Hyundai Motor Group, and maximum engagement. Its dual-motor AWD setup makes 609 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. Activate Boost mode, and that increases to 650 hp and 582 lb-ft for 15 seconds. As a result, the GV60 Magma can hit 125 mph in just 10.9 seconds with Launch Control on the way to a 164-mph top speed. Additionally, the car maintains consistent power output at high speeds and features three other drive modes: Sprint, GT, and MY. That third one allows the driver to customize settings for the Electronic Stability Control system, electronic limited-slip differential, and other performance parameters.

To complement all of that power, Genesis refined the suspension by refining the geometry and recalibrating the roll center. Additionally, it features an electronic control suspension and end-of-travel control systems to achieve the right balance of ride comfort and cornering stability. It also features Hydro G-Bushings up front and dual-layer bushings in the rear crossmember to reduce vibration and impacts. Upgraded brakes with larger discs, front monoblock calipers, and rear units made GG-rated high-friction materials help improve braking performance. On the other hand, the 21-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in wider performance tires. Finally, Active Noise Control – Road, sound-insulating glass, and reinforced door sealing keep the cabin hushed and still worthy of a luxury car.

Magma-Specific Details

The GV60 Magma adds a bit of drama to go with its athleticism. Activating Magma mode adds a unique digital gauge cluster layout that shows all key driving data. These include motor and battery temperatures, speed, and G-force. The head-up display shows a simplified view that shows speed, regenerative braking levels, and remaining boost time. It also has the Virtual Gear Shift System that lets you “shift” through simulated gears. This is achieved by adjusting the motor output and regenerative braking to mimic the driving sensations and sounds of an internal combustion engine.

Want to get some sideways antics going? The GV60 Magma lets you do that via its Drift mode. It manages power and uses the electronic limited-slip differential to achieve a rear-biased distribution, allowing you to get the car’s tail out. Lastly, the high-performance battery control system keeps the battery temperature optimized for peak performance, ensuring it can handle activities like circuit or drag racing.

Looking to pick up a GV60 Magma? You’ll need to wait until 2026, which is when it goes on sale in Europe and North America. Expect this model to slot above the GV60 Performance, meaning it’ll likely cost over $80,000.
