Pricing for the 2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale has officially arrived, and it’s quite steep. Starting at $40,245, this subcompact SUV ain’t cheap. Additionally $3,250 of that sticker price is the destination charge. That’s right, the destination charge for this little Italian is over three grand. A fully loaded 2026 Tonale will run you $50,000, which puts it on par with competitors like the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40.
Under the hood, the 2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale has a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 268 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic is the only available transmission. AWD comes standard, while four-piston Brembo brakes are included on certain trims. You can also add a dual-mode suspension for $350 on the Sport Speciale model.
Other options include 20-inch alloy wheels, a black roof, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system. The Active Assist package adds the Active Driving Assist System, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a surround view camera system, and ParkSense park assist for $1,250. The Spring trim has an available Premium package that adds niceties like ambient interior lighting, ventilated front seats, and a hands-free power liftgate. For 2026, the Tonale adds three new exterior colors: Rosso Brera, Verde Monda, and Giallo Ocra.
The refreshed 2026 Tonale made its North American debut at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show. It slots below the larger Stelvio in Alfa Romeo’s lineup. Looking for the plug-in hybrid? Unfortunately, it’s gone for 2026. That variant had 285 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. It also had an all-electric driving range of over 30 miles before the gas engine kicks in and the SUV transitions to hybrid mode. What about the Tonale’s Dodge cousin, the Hornet? That model is currently on indefinite hold and won’t be on sale here. For now.
