The 2026 Toyota 4Runner has arrived essentially unchanged. Its most notable change is the addition of the Wave Maker exterior. However, that’s exclusive to the TRD Pro model. Every other model essentially carries over unchanged. That means a standard 2.4-liter turbo-four with 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque on most models. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid system with up to 326 hp and 465 lb-ft is also available on certain trims. An eight-speed automatic remains the only transmission option.

As before, the 2026 Toyota 4Runner has an expansive lineup with nine variants. In addition to the base SR5 and the mid-level TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road, both of which have Premium variants, it also has more upscale and rugged models. The Trailhunter, which Toyota designed for overlanding, comes standard with the hybrid powertrain. It also includes Old Man Emu shocks, a snorkel, 33-inch Toyo all-terrain tires, 18-inch bronze-finish alloy wheels, and an onboard air compressor. Meanwhile, the TRD Pro comes standard with the hybrid powertrain and pairs it with Fox shocks. The off-road models also feature available options such as Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select, a locking rear differential, and the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism. All four off-road-oriented 4Runners come standard with part-time 4WD and a two-speed transfer case.
For those seeking a more on-road focus, the Limited and Platinum trims are designed for you. They’re also the only way to get full-time 4WD with a locking center differential and the Adaptive Variable Suspension.
Other optional features include a 14-inch touchscreen, a third row for the SR5 and Limited, and a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system with a portable Bluetooth speaker. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard on all 2026 Toyota 4Runner models. A loaded 2026 4Runner will cost you about $70,000 for a TRD Pro, Trailhunter, or Platinum trim.
