General Motors dropped several teasers of the upcoming 2027 Chevrolet Bolt this week. The release described the first generation of the EV as a game changer, thanks to its long range. As a result, it made mass-market EVs viable at an affordable price. Production ended in December 2023, but due to popular demand, General Motors promised to bring it back. Now we know the Bolt returns for the 2027 model year, with GM noting it’ll be better than ever.
What about the four teaser shots that came with the press release? Well, they seem…familiar. Despite only showing detail shots, we can make out that this new Bolt retains the same shape as its predecessor. The front features a new headlight pattern but remains similar in design theme to what the outgoing Bolt EV and EUV had. The same goes for the taillight, which has a similar but more angular pattern. Meanwhile, the pattern on the wheels looks suspiciously similar to the ones found on Bolt EUV’s Premier trim.
The one detail that stood out is the charging port. This reborn Bolt has the NACS port, which means more options for DC charging while on longer drives. However, it’s on the left front fender, which may make it harder to reach on V3 Tesla Superchargers with shorter cables.

2027 Chevrolet Bolt: What to Expect
When it arrives, expect the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt to feature powertrain tech borrowed from larger EVs like the Equinox and Blazer. Expect an updated battery and possibly more power from a revised or new electric motor. Unfortunately, that also means no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, just like every EV from General Motors outside of the Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer. Instead, it’ll most likely come with Google built-in, featuring embedded Google Maps on a massive touchscreen.
Look out for more details later in the year as Chevrolet spills more beans on the 2027 Bolt.
