Mazda has officially killed the CX-70 and replaced it with a two-row 2027 CX-90. That’s not a bad thing, because the CX-70 was essentially a CX-90 with a slightly tweaked exterior and no third row. With that model gone, Mazda’s large SUV lineup streamlines to just one model with two seating configurations. Additionally, the CX-90 gains new exterior colors. These include Navy Blue Mica, Aero Gray Metallic, Meltin Copper Metallic, and Zircon Sand Metallic. A few of these were originally exclusive to the CX-70.
For 2027, the Mazda CX-90 continues to offer four trims. Prices start at $41,345 for the base Select trim. That includes a full suite of driver assistance features, a 10.25-inch display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch digital cluster, and three-zone climate control. On the other hand, the Preferred trim adds a larger 12.3-inch main display, wireless smartphone integration, power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging. The Preferred trim also receives standard roof rails for 2027.
The Premium Sport trim is available in two- or three-row configurations. Moreover, it features unique design details like 21-inch black metallic alloy wheels and black chrome exterior details. Amazon Alexa integration also comes standard on the Premium Sport. Depending on the powertrain, the Premium Plus trim adds features like a 12.3-inch digital cluster, Nappa leather, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a head-up display.
The CX-90 continues to offer two powertrain options. The standard 3.3-liter turbo I-6 features a 48V mild hybrid setup. It makes 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque on the Turbo models, and 340 hp and 369 lb-ft on the Turbo S. Meanwhile, plug-in Hybrid variants use a 2.5-liter I-4-based system with 323 hp and 369 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic remains the only transmission option.
