Subaru cut prices on the 2027 Outback, and that’s a good thing! With the return of the base model, the tall, rugged wagon now starts at $34,540. That comes well-equipped, too. A 12.3-inch digital cluster, the EyeSight suite of driver assistance technologies, heated front seats, and a 12.1-inch main touchscreen come standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the DriverFocus distraction mitigation technology also come standard.
As before, the Subaru has two engine options on the Outback for 2027. Most models have a 2.5-liter flat-four with 180 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the XT and Wilderness trims use a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. A CVT remains the only transmission available regardless of the engine. Wilderness models pair the increased output with 9.5 inches of ground clearance, adaptive dampers, all-terrain tires, extra underbody protection, and Dual-Mode X-Mode with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings.
For 2027, the Outback gains three new exterior colors: Sand Dune Pearl, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and Snowfall White Silica. Additionally, the Limited XT now comes standard with Subaru’s Highway Hands-Free Driving Assist. You can also add it on the Wilderness trim through an optional package.
Moving up the trims, the Outback receives significant price cuts. This ranges from $770 for the Limited XT to a generous $1,900 on the Touring trim. Either way, these make the Outback a stellar value, especially with its standard Symmetrical AWD system. Fully equipped, an Outback Wilderness barely crests $50,000. On the other hand, the Touring XT, which comes with Nappa leather, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and more, costs $48,140. Definitely a great value, especially considering competitors like the Nissan Murano cost more.
Built in Gunma, Japan, the 2027 Outback goes on sale later this year.
