The rebirth of Jaguar has begun with the arrival of the production Type 01. It stays true to the concept with a sleek roofline and a shape that no one will mistake for anything else. The Type 01 traces its lineage to Jaguar’s past grand tourers, including the XJS and the legendary E-Type. As a result, it features a short decklid and a long hood just like its predecessors. Meanwhile, the front and rear fascia stay true to the initial concept, resulting in a menacing look and a distinct rear end.
However, the Jaguar Type 01 ditches the concept’s two-door layout. Instead, it’s a coupe-like sedan with rear passenger doors and a liftback-style rear end. Additionally, the Type 01 lacks a rear window, similar to what the Polestar 4 Coupe has. Unfortunately, the leaping cat logo is gone and replaced by the Jaguar name in a modern yet funky script. You’ll find that up front and on the rear of this stately grand tourer.

As far as the powertrain goes, the Type 01 rides on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture. The brand claims this represents a new standard for power, aerodynamics, and technological advancement in its vehicles. It’s evident in the specifications, too. With around 1,000 hp, the Type 01 has plenty of power in reserve. Moreover, it uses an 850-volt electrical architecture for super-quick DC charging. Jaguar says the Type 01 can add 200 miles in 13 minutes under ideal conditions when using a 350-kW charger. It also said that it expects an EPA driving range rating of 400 miles, plenty for road trips and spontaneous outings.
When it comes to pricing, the Type 01 costs 130,000 GBP in the U.K. Expect a similar number when this all-electric cat crosses the pond and lands in the U.S.
