It’s rare to see an automaker give you more for less, but Subaru just did that with the 2027 Impreza. For the new model year, the brand’s compact hatchback sees a price cut of $2,000. The base model now starts at $25,840, while the RS checks in at $30,740. Additionally, the latter has an optional package that adds a moonroof, power driver’s seat, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system for $2,070 more. Together with the $395 Citron Yellow exterior, a loaded Impreza RS costs just over $33,000. Not bad!
Speaking of getting more for less, the 2027 Subaru Impreza now has a more powerful base engine. All models use a 2.5-liter boxer-four with 180 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. This marks the official exit of the smaller 2.0-liter unit that served as the base engine for both the Impreza and Crosstrek for some time. On the other hand, a CVT and Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system come standard.
As far as standard features go, the base model comes with dual-zone climate control, dual 7-inch displays, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the EyeSight suite of driver assistance features. Moving up to the RS adds wireless smartphone connectivity, an 11.6-in. touchscreen, heated front seats, blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and emergency lane keep assist. The Impreza RS also includes styling tweaks. These include dark 18-inch alloy wheels, a black roof spoiler, and fog lights. Meanwhile, the interior features black RS cloth upholstery. RS models also include a standard sport-tuned suspension.
In addition to the consolidation to the 2.5-liter engine and the lower starting price, the Impreza also gains Ignition Red. That replaces Pure Red. Assembled in Gunma. Japan, the 2027 Impreza arrives in late 2026 and remains the only hatchback in Subaru’s current lineup.
