2027 Kia K5 Shrinks Down to 3 Trims

Kia has officially announced the 2027 K5 sedan. Its lineup shrinks to just three trims with the discontinuation of the EX model. To counter that, the GT-Line now has an optional Convenience package. That includes ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory, and power-folding side mirrors. Otherwise, the K5 remains largely a carryover model. LXS and GT-Line models feature a 2.5-liter I-4 with 186 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. AWD is available only on the GT-Line trim. The EPA rates the base engine at 26/37/30 mpg city/highway/combined for the front-drive LXS. Meanwhile, the front-drive GT-Line checks in at an EPA-estimated 25/36/29 mpg. Finally, the GT-Line AWD and the K5 GT are EPA-rated at 23/33/27 mpg.

The sportier 2027 Kia K5 GT brings more performance. It features a 2.5-liter turbo-four with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. That comes paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. GT models also come standard with a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, the K5 GT comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black rear sport bumper with a silver skid plate, green brake calipers, and quad exhaust tips.

On the tech front, the K5 comes standard with the Drive Wise suite of active safety technologies. Higher trims are available with a surround-view camera, Highway Driving Assist, parking sensors all around, a curved 12.3-inch digital cluster, and the blind-spot view monitor. Furthermore, all models come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The GT-Line and GT trims also have an optional 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Prices start at $28,945 for the LXS trim. Moving up to the GT-Line bumps the MSRP to $29,935 for front-drive models or $31,535 with AWD. On the other hand, the K5 GT starts at $35,0353
