2027 Nissan Z Adds Manual Gearbox to NISMO Model

The refreshed 2027 Nissan Z has officially arrived in North America. Its biggest change? You can finally select the six-speed manual transmission on the NISMO model! Unlike the gearbox in the Sport and Performance trims, the NISMO’s row-it-yourself option has an upgraded clutch. It also includes a shorter shift lever ration, resulting in shorter shift strokes. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 even receives a manual specific tune, which adjusts the throttle and ignition time for a sharper, more aggressive response and a more sustained torque delivery. Meanwhile, retuned Active Sound Enhancement and Active Noise Cancellation dramatically enhance intake and exhaust sounds in Sport mode.

Outside of the new transmission and revised powertrain, the 2027 Nissan Z NISMO receives other improvements. The front brakes now use a two-piece iron-aluminum rotor derived from the GT-R, featuring improved cooling channels to dramatically cut pad temperatures during track use. They’re also lighter, cutting weight by 19 pounds. Additionally, Nissan retuned the front suspension to account for the brakes being lighter. Finally, steering rack revisions reduced internal friction by 20 percent for a more fluid cornering sensation that requires fewer driver corrections.

2027 Nissan Z: Extensive Upgrades

In addition to the extensive changes on the NISMO, Nissan also revised the standard Z. It now features a new front fascia with a body-colored bar splitting the grille opening. Revised bumper shaping, grille, and internal ducting optimize cooling air flow, while reducing aerodynamic lift and drag. A new Z logo replaces the Nissan badge on the front.

On the other hand, the Z Performance now has redesigned, forged 19-inch wheels with black spokes and a machined-finish rim, as well as a new Tan interior color. Furthermore, a new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic exterior inspired by the green on the S30-generation Z joins the options list exclusively paired with a contrasting black roof. Inside, the Performance and NISMO models now have Qi2 wireless charging. It features a cooling fan to help manage device heat and a built-in magnet. Additionally, its output has increased to 15W to support more devices types.

Additional changes include larger diameter shock absorbers for the Z Performance. Nissan says they improve vibration dampening, resulting in a smoother ride and more predictable handling. The entire 2027 lineup also comes with a new fuel tank design that helps maintain fuel levels around the fuel pump during high-G cornering. This also results in more consistent fuel delivery and engine performance during sustained high-speed cornering on a track.

The 2027 Z arrives at Nissan dealers this summer with a pricing announcement coming closer to the on-sale date.
