2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Starts at $44,900

It’s official. Mitsubishi has confirmed the 2026 Outlander PHEV for the U.S. with a starting price of $44,990. Arriving at dealerships in May, this improved plug-in hybrid receives a massive powertrain upgrade. The biggest news? A new 22.7-kWh battery pack that increases the EPA-estimated all-electric driving range to an impressive 45 miles. That’s an increase of seven miles! It also receives new cooling and thermal management systems. As a result, it can go further in EV mode, and the total system output increases to 297 horsepower, an increase of 49 horsepower. Mitsubishi also re-tuned the steering and suspension of the refreshed Outlander PHEV for a more engaging drive.

Like the gas-only model, the plug-in hybrid variant receives several updates. For 2026, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV includes revised seating surfaces, redesigned cupholders, and a larger storage bin under the center armrest. Higher trims include ventilated front seats and a Dynamic Sound Yamaha premium audio system with eight or 12 speakers. New front and rear bumpers, fresh 18 or 20-inch wheel options, and smoked taillights are also standard. The front fascia includes a new hood and grille to reduce wind noise. Additionally, the fuel tank has grown to 14 gallons. Extensive sound deadening has also been added to keep the cabin quiet.

The 2026 Outlander PHEV has four trims: ES, SE, SEL, and the new Black Edition. A naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder remains the basis for this plug-in hybrid powertrain. Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) AWD system comes standard, featuring two electric motors driving each axle. As before, the Outlander PHEV remains the only compact SUV available with three rows of seating. A 12.3-inch touchscreen comes standard, while a head-up display and a 12.3-inch digital cluster are available on higher trims. The Black Edition also comes with massaging front seats.
