The Ram commercial vehicle lineup has a midsize van once again with the 2027 ProMaster City. The return of a smaller model means it has the segment all to itself. Without the Chevrolet City Express, Nissan NV200, Ford Transit Connect, and Mercedes-Benz Metris, it’s the only game in town. Underpinned by Stellantis’ commercial vehicle platform, the ProMaster City will be available in cargo and passenger configurations.
Ram also refined the 2027 ProMaster City for the North American market, resulting in a more robust, functional, and comfortable vehicle than its predecessor. It also features a unibody architecture for greater torsional rigidity, lower curb weight, and reduced parts complexity. Additionally, it improves driving dynamics on uneven surfaces and efficiency.

2027 Ram ProMaster City: Big Space, Small Footprint
The ProMaster City has a lot of space for its size. Ram says it has over 167 cubic feet of cargo space, a 111-inch or nine-foot load floor, allowing it to haul common construction items like sheetrock and 4 by 8 plywood. It also has a low step-in height of around 23 inches, and over 48 inches between the rear wheels. As a result, the ProMaster City can carry two standard U.S. pallets. Meanwhile, an overall cargo width of over 64 inches allows owners to push vertical items to the corners or outfit the walls with shelves and other storage solutions.
In terms of payload, the ProMaster City has a capacity of 2,000 pounds. On the other hand, Ram is targeting a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds with the optional Class 3 trailer hitch and a two-inch receiver. At 77 inches, it’s also the only Class 2 van under 80 inches, allowing it to enter most city garages and parking structures, all while delivering a 54-inch cargo height.
The passenger-side sliding door on the 2027 ProMaster City comes standard with an opening of over 36 inches wide and 48 inches tall. In the rear, owners can choose between 180-degree rear swing doors, perfect for tight spaces. Additionally, a rear liftgate with a fixed glass, defroster, and wiper is also available.
Under the hood, the 2027 Ram ProMaster City has a new 1.6-liter turbo-four with 166 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission puts the power down exclusively to the front wheels. It also has a manual mode and paddle shifters. Complementing the turbocharged power are a MacPherson strut front and independent trailing arm rear suspension layout. Despite its 129-inch wheelbase and FWD configuration, the ProMaster City has a turning diameter of only 42 feet.

More Standard Tech
For 2027, the new ProMaster City introduces more standard infotainment and driver assistance technologies. These include forward collision warning, front automatic emergency braking, driver attention alert, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors. It also comes standard with dual 10-inch displays, a five-inch digital rearview mirror, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and built-in navigation.
The higher SLT trim adds extras like front parking sensors, 17-inch wheels, and a wireless phone charger. Additional options include a heated steering wheel, a partition wall, and a third row. In total, the ProMaster City has 11 distinct configurations thanks to its extensive customizability. Order books open in the second half of 2026, with the van arriving at dealers in the first quarter of 2027. Ram says to expect a starting price of under $40,000. The 2027 Ram ProMaster City will be built at the TOFAS plant in Bursa, Turkey. The Baltimore Transformation Center installs additional upfitting for U.S.-spec vehicles.
