2027 Porsche Taycan

2027 Porsche Taycan Gains NACS Port and Virtual Gears

The 2027 Porsche Taycan receives several big changes for the new model year. Perhaps the most notable one is the NACS port, which now comes standard on all models except the Turbo GT with the Weissach Package. However, it retains a J1772 port on the driver’s front fender for AC charging. Every 2027 Taycan also comes with a CCS adapter. In addition, the base, 4, and 4S models now come standard with the 105-kWh Performance Battery Plus. This allows for DC charging speeds of 320 kW on compatible 800-volt stations. The car also includes a battery health display as standard.

For added driver engagement, the 2027 Porsche Taycan adds an E-Shift option activated via a button on the steering wheel. This provides a dynamic shifting sensation, especially with the Porsche Electric Sport Sound. It features auto and manual modes, the latter of which has eight simulated gears toggled via the paddle shifters on the GT Sport steering wheel. Porsche modeled the gear changes for an authentic feel and gear-specific drag torque comparable to engine braking on an internal combustion vehicle. It also features a virtual rev limiter. The Porsche Electric Sport Sound adapts to the driving scenario based on load and wheel speed. Tuning varies based on the model. Additionally, the system also includes a virtual rev counter and gear indicator complete with shift lights.

2027 Porsche Taycan: Improved Tech, More Customizability

Porsche also updated the Taycan’s infotainment system, which is now the same unit found in the Macan Electric and Cayenne Electric. The new Porsche Communication Management interface’s computing power is five times higher, improving response times. Meanwhile, the Porsche Car App combines all key vehicle functions in one place. Other features include enhanced voice control, an App Center with third-party apps, and a 25-watt wireless charger with MagSafe.

Looking to customize your Taycan to your exact specifications? The Paint to Sample program has 16 new colors, bringing the total to 153. These include iconic colors like Shark Blue and Python Green, as well as new hues like Loretta Purple and Rose Red. On the Turbo GT with the Weissach Package, the Manthey Kit is available straight from the factory.

Pricing for the 2027 Taycan starts at $114,250 for the rear-drive model. Order books are open now. Unfortunately, it appears that the Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo models have been quietly discontinued, according to The Drive.
