The V8 lives on at Mercedes-AMG thanks to the refreshed 2027 GLE 63 S and GLS 63. Both performance SUVs come packing a revised version of the hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired to an AMG Speedshift 9-speed automatic transmission. In both applications the engine makes 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. It also benefits from a 48-volt mild hybrid setup, which includes an integrated starter generator with 23 hp and 151 lb-ft. The setup allows for smoother power delivery at lower engine speeds. Other updates include new intake and exhaust ports, and a revised intake camshaft. As a result, the GLE 63 S can hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, while the GLS 63 can do the same deed in 3.9 seconds.
Both the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S and GLS 63 feature a new AMG performance exhaust system. The driver can choose a more subtle tone or turn up the V8 symphony to the max in Sport+ mode. Both SUVs feature a revised front end specific to AMG models featuring larger air intakes and LED headlights with an AMG-specific signature. The AMG Ride Control+ suspension comes standard on both SUVs alongside active roll stabilization for improved ride and handling. As a result, both SUVs can raise or lower their suspension based on driving conditions. Power goes to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic+ AWD system. The AMG locking rear differential complements it, allowing for optimal power distribution and traction. In typical AMG fashion, the GLE 63 S and GLS 63 have multiple drive modes, including Individual for extensive personalization.

2027 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S and GLS 63: Extensive Customizability
Customizability remains a hallmark for both models. A wide range of alloy wheel options including fresh 23-inch units on the GLS 63 are available. You can also go through Mercedes’ Manufaktur program for a wealth of personalization options. These include exclusive exterior colors like Cirrus Silver Magno, Ireland Mid Green Metallic, and Mystic Blue Metallic. For the interior, the Manufaktur program includes fine Nappa leather upholstery in Yacht Blue, Tartufo Brown, and Carmine Red. Additionally, the AMG Night Package Plus adds dark chrome accents.
Expect the GLE 63 S and GLS 63 to follow the core GLE and GLS models and cost six-figures to start.
