The Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has returned for 2027! Along with it comes plenty of performance goodies, including a new base engine for the Corvette family. That unit is the new 6.7-liter V8, which makes 535 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque, more than any naturally aspirated Corvette before it. The engine features a 13:1 compression for sharper throttle response, while a 95-mm throttle body and tunnel ram intake with high-velocity ports help unlock more power. Additionally, a new lubrication system, forged pistons and rods, and a revised exhaust manifold ensure durability during high-performance driving.
This revival of the Grand Sport name brings one more surprise to the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette lineup: a hotter hybrid variant. Called the Grand Sport X, it replaces the E-Ray and couples the new V8 engine with a front electric motor and a high-voltage drive battery for a total system output of 721 hp. Like the E-Ray, the Corvette Grand Sport X comes standard with AWD. All Corvette models come exclusively with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport: Sharper Than Ever
As standard, the Corvette Grand Sport includes Magnetic Ride Control, a Touring suspension, and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires. Looking for that extra sharpness? Chevrolet has two packages that borrow components from the Corvette Z06. The Z52 Sport Performance package features a stiffer suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer performance tires, and the Z06’s J56 high-performance iron brakes. Take that one step further with the Z52 Track Performance package with carbon-ceramic J57 brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and a track-tuned chassis. Additionally, it includes a carbon fiber splitter, dive planes, rockers, a wing, and underbody strakes. As a result, this is the most track-capable Grand Sport to date.
Meanwhile, the Corvette Grand Sport X uses electrification to boost performance. Its front electric motor gives it instant torque, all while retaining the agility of a rear-drive car and AWD traction. Drivers can also choose between three ways to use the available power, just like in the ZR1X. Endurance mode allows for extended lapping and consistent AWD output for a full tank of fuel. Qualifying focuses on optimum power for the quickest lap time. Lastly, Push-to-Pass provides max power on demand. Every Grand Sport X also includes Magnetic Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires as standard. An optional Performance package adds Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer performance tires.
When it’s time to keep things quiet, the Grand Sport X features an all-electric Stealth Mode that works up to 50 mph. On the other hand, Shuttle mode is for non-street use at up to 23 mph. This allows the car to operate using only the electric motor.

Big Upgrades Across the Board
Just like the Grand Sport models that preceded it, the 2027 models feature distinct design cues. These include the signature hash marks, which move to the rear of the car on the C8. Admiral Blue Metallic, an iconic color from the C4 Grand Sport, also returns with a white center stripe and red hash marks.
To commemorate the arrival of the C8 Grand Sport, a Launch Edition model will be offered with a Santorini Blue interior with red stitching and accents. Additionally, the headrests are embossed with the Grand Sport’s exterior plan view outline. A Grand Sport steering wheel badge and Launch Edition speaker plaque also come standard. Most importantly, the Launch Edition comes in multiple exterior colors along with a variety of hash marks and center stripes. You can also choose between four finishes for the standard 10-spoke forged aluminum wheels. Pitch Gray Metallic joins the exterior color palette options.
As for the standard Corvette Stingray, it receives the new engine plus a new center exhaust option. Additionally, Magnetic Ride Control provides better body control. The Z51 Performance Package includes a 5.56:1 final drive ratio for more immediate throttle response, improved aerodynamics, and Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette, including the Grand Sport, starts this summer at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly plant.
