Hyundai Staria Electric: The Proper Way To Make An Electric Van

It was only a matter of time, but here it is: the Hyundai Staria Electric. This marks the introduction of the first battery-electric van to Hyundai’s global lineup, joining its internal combustion and hybrid siblings. Available in seven or nine-passenger configurations, the Staria Electric looks like the hybrid and internal combustion models. Its distinct features include the lack of a front grille. Instead, it features geometric surfaces for a clean look to complement its full-width front LED light bar. Like recent Hyundai models, the Staria Electric makes extensive use of the pixel design theme.

Under the skin, the Hyundai Staria Electric features an 800-volt charging system. That means it can DC charge its 84-kWh battery in around 20 minutes under ideal conditions when using a compatible charger. If that battery size sounds familiar, that’s because it’s likely the same pack found on several Hyundai Motor Group vehicles, including the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. The Staria Electric also includes an 11-kW onboard charger and a heated charging port cover to keep it from freezing in cold climates. In terms of output, the single electric motor makes 218 hp and powers the front wheels. It can also go 400 km or around 248 miles per charge. Hyundai also notes that the Staria Electric can tow up to 2,000 kg or 4,400 lbs when properly equipped.

Hyundai Staria Electric: Versatile and Luxuriously Tech-Forward

Depending on the configuration, the Staria Electric features many luxury and tech appointments. These include heated and ventilated first and second rows, a full suite of driver assistance features, over-the-air software updates, and a surround-view camera system. Additionally, V2L capability allows owners to use their Staria Electric as a power source for small appliances and tools.

The Staria Electric goes on sale in the first half of 2026. For now, Korea and Europe are the only markets to get it, but Hyundai notes that more will be announced later on.
