Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR Looks Ready For the Track

Japan always gets the good stuff. The Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR is proof of that. This limited-run model was created with the input of Akio Toyoda, aka Morizo, Chairman and Master Driver at Toyota. It takes into account knowledge gained from competition. Limited to 100 units for the Japanese market, this hot hatch features plenty of go-fast goodies. However, it appears that the tiny 1.6-liter turbo-three remained untouched at 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The only gearbox offered is the Toyota GAZOO Racing eight-speed Direct Automatic Transmission.

As for the suspension, the Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR has been optimized at the Nurburgring. Toyota GAZOO Racing optimized the suspension to allow the tires to grip firmly, even on uneven surfaces. As a result, it remains usable as a daily driver while still offering incredible performance on the track. Toyota also re-tuned the electric power steering system to complement its new suspension calibration. Additionally, the GR-FOUR AWD system now has a Morizo mode that replaces Gravel. This sets the torque distribution to 50/50 front to rear.

The GR Yaris Morizo RR also looks like a proper race car. It features a carbon fiber rear wing developed through competing in the Nurburgring 24 Hours race. Additional changes include a front splitter, side skirts, a carbon fiber hood, an exclusive Morizo RR rear badge, and a new exterior color called Gravel Khaki. Moreover, the grille features a piano black finish, while the alloy wheels and brake calipers come finished in Matte Bronze and Yellow, respectively.

Inside, the car features a suede small-diameter steering wheel with modified paddle shifters. Meanwhile, the seats include yellow stitching, headrest embroidery, and colored perforations. Finally, the car has a serialized number plate with the Morizo RR logo and a windshield autographed by Morizo.
