Jeep just took the wraps off the 2026 Recon, its second EV following the Wagoneer S. However, unlike that more luxury-oriented SUV, this one goes all in with its off-road-focused approach.
Built on a dedicated battery-electric platform, the 2026 Jeep Recon features two electric motors with 650 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque combined. Each electric drive module bundles together the motor, gearing, and power electronics into one compact unit, enhancing efficiency. On the Moab trim, the rear electric drive module uses a 15:1 final drive ratio to deliver higher torque multiplication. An electronic locking rear differential ensures torque flows to both rear wheels when engaged. Meanwhile, the front unit has an 11:1 final drive ratio and an open differential. Furthermore, the Recon can automatically disconnect the front motor to optimize efficiency and get the most out of its 100-kWh battery.
For enhanced off-road capability, the Recon features large-diameter half shafts and stout constant velocity joints. Short-long arm front and integral link rear suspension maximizes the tire contact patch to best blend on-road ride comfort with off-road capability. Additionally, 33-inch tires on the Moab trim include 9.1 inches of ground clearance. On top of that, it features a 33.8-degree approach angle, 33.1-degree departure angle, and 23.3-degree breakover angle. Moab models feature Rock mode as part of its Selec-Terrain traction management system. This tailors the throttle response to help manage rough terrain driving and includes a hill hold feature. Finally, low-speed Selec-Speed control essentially gives the Recon an off-road cruise control system to help you drive slowly up and down inclines.

2026 Jeep Recon: Pure Jeep Heritage
The Recon brims with Jeep DNA. From its illuminated seven-slot “grille” to U-shaped daytime running lights and LED exterior lighting, this SUV looks like a proper Jeep. A standard dual-pane sunroof or an optional Sky One-Touch power top gives you the open-air experience. And like the legendary Wrangler, you can remove the doors, rear quarter glass, and swing gate glass.
For a little more pizzazz, you can also get a black roof to match the gloss black exterior accents. On the other hand, the Recon’s rear features LED taillights inspired by the Wrangler, as well as a full-size spare. The Moab trim adds gloss black fascias, wheel flares, an anti-glare hood graphic, Jeep badges with a topographical etching, and available side rock rails.
Step inside the Recon’s cabin and you’ll find details like a grab handle on the passenger’s side and an accessory rail. It also features extra center console storage, modular door panels, and up to 65.9 cubic feet of cargo space. It also makes extensive use of recycled materials throughout the interior as part of Jeep’s commitment to sustainability. Moreover, the standard Alpine premium audio system optimizes the listening experience even with the doors removed. It does so by mounting the speakers under the seats.

Tech For Today
Jeep goes all-in on the tech thanks to the latest UConnect 5 interface. It comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen, the latter of which is the largest ever equipped on a Jeep vehicle to date. Unfortunately, that means most of the controls reside in the latter, including the climate controls. Thankfully, Jeep kept the volume and tuning knobs on the Recon.
The Recon also launches with the Trails Offroad app, a Jeep brand-exclusive guide to trails across the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, BEV pages help bring real-time info on the vehicle’s state of charge. On the other hand, Dynamic Range Mapping from TomTom helps you plan long trips and will show you where to stop and charge. Amazon Alexa is also supported, while an updated Jeep mobile app provides additional tools to help improve the ownership experience.
2026 Jeep Recon: How Far and How Much?
On a single charge, Jeep says that the 2026 Recon can travel up to 250 miles per charge. We suspect the boxy shape and all-terrain tires may have something to do with the driving range not hitting the 300-mile mark despite the large battery pack. At least it can hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, right?
What about price, you ask? Jeep says the Recon will start at $66,995, meaning a loaded model may crest $80,000 depending on how it’s equipped. Assembled at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant, the Recon will launch in the U.S. and Canada first, followed by other global markets.
