Honda Racing Shows Off Performance Projects at SEMA 2025

Honda Racing showcased its entire portfolio of high-performance projects at the 2025 SEMA Show. However, two of those go all-in on getting dirty and dusty. Making its world debut, the Civic Type R HRC Rally XP arrives fresh from testing. It’s the culmination of all the learning from the HART Acura Integra rally car and Honda’s (HRC) touring car experience. It also partnered with Rally Ready to push this rally-bred Civic Type R even further. Built to compete in the American Rally Association’s 2WD class, it bridges Honda’s touring car heritage with innovative, rugged performance. This competition-ready project car is also being evaluated for future use in commercial racing programs.

Starting from a standard Civic Type R, Honda Racing added racing safety components and many parts from its racing catalogs. These include camber/caster plates, an oil cooler kit, an intercooler, a radiator with reverse cooling flow hoses, clutch plate differential, suspension components, and TCR hood vents. Additionally, the Civic Type R HRC Rally XP features several prototype parts, including brakes sized for rally wheels, a custom exhaust, and a carbon fiber hydraulic hand brake. It also features an aluminum skid plate supported by a tubular subframe, rally-specific dampers, and underbody protection.

Honda Racing: Going All-In Off-Road

In addition to the Civic Type R HRC Rally XP, Honda also brought along the Passport TrailSport HRC Concept. This takes the most capable off-road-oriented Honda to date and adds goodies from Honda Racing Corporation’s performance and capability parts. These also include functional accessories and unique styling details. Redesigned front and rear bumpers improve approach and departure angles, while aluminum skid plates and extra underbody protection cover critical components like the center bearing, prop shaft, and rear drive unit.

Additionally, the Passport TrailSport HRC Concept includes new dampers, a one-off exhaust system, and a 60-mm suspension lift. It also includes a one-inch tire increase, wider rock sliders, and a swing-out full-size spare tire carrier. Extra lighting, Thermal Orange with a black roof, and prototype wheels round out the exterior revisions. Inside, the Passport TrailSport HRC Concept has blue Alcantara inserts and branding, as well as HRC accessory mounting panels.

In addition to the Civic Type R HRC Rally XP and Passport TrailSport HRC Concept, Honda Racing brought along several race cars and concepts. These include an updated Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype, which now has newly developed performance parts and forged wheels derived from the ARX-06 race wheels. This project car continues to showcase advanced aerodynamics, weight reduction, and uprated suspension to highlight how HRC parts improve performance. Honda also has the Civic Type R Super GT and TCR race cars, and the Acura ARX-06 IMSA GTP Prototype. Also on display are Alex Palou’s Indy 500-winning race car, which uses a Honda hybrid system, and the Baja Passport Race Truck with a twin-turbo V6 engine.
