Toyota Scion 01 Concept Revives Familiar Name

Toyota used the 2025 SEMA Show to bring back a familiar name from the dead. That’s right, the Scion name returns, but it’s on a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle. The Toyota Scion 01 Concept tests new ground by entering a new segment. Spearheaded by North American Toyota engineers with a passion for off-roading, this concept combines Toyota’s legendary reputation for durability and Scion’s experimental DNA.

The result? A cool side-by-side that leverages Toyota’s off-road performance heritage for a new kind of vehicle. The Toyota Scion 01 Concept is a new performance vehicle for those craving adrenaline and innovation for the outdoors. This rig uses a high-output, turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system that Toyota says combines power with efficiency. Derived from Toyota’s truck lineup, this electrified powertrain makes a healthy 300 hp. It also has a Silent Mode, which allows you to tackle trails silently.

It’s not just about power, either, because this side-by-side aims to surpass everything in that segment. The Scion 01 Concept was designed for a wide range of off-road driving scenarios. These also include high-speed racing, rugged trail running, and rock crawling. It features exceptional suspension articulation, balanced track width, and a small footprint for tight trails.

Additionally, Toyota remains committed to safety and durability. That’s why it features a one-of-a-kind roll cage. Developed directly by Toyota, this cage is compatible with SCORE and FIAT racing standards. Finally, the Scion 01 Concept leverages proven driveline, suspension, and brake components, all of which were strategically chosen for reliability in extreme conditions.

From the sounds of it, Toyota isn’t likely to put the Scion 01 Concept into production. However, this project vehicle shows off the potential of hybrid powertrain technologies. Most importantly, it shows enthusiasts how this setup enhances performance and efficiency in vehicles built for adventure and fun.
