Ford has added another high-performance model to the Mustang lineup. This time, it’s not powered by a V8 engine. Instead, it ups the ante on models with the turbocharged four-cylinder model. Developed in collaboration with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and RTR, the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR amps up the fun without the V8. However, since it uses the 2.3-liter turbo-four, the Mustang RTR comes exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Power output stands at 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. For added fun, the RTR also has a drift lever for some sideways action.
Suspension components from the Dark Horse model complement the 2026 Mustang RTR’s turbocharged power. The strut alignment bracket, front and rear stabilizer bars, rear subframe, and stiffer rate bushings come from the Mustang Dark Horse. Meanwhile, the 600-watt cooling fan, steering rack angle with 72.5 mm of additional travel, and Brembo brakes all come from the GT. Every 2026 Ford Mustang RTR also has active valve performance exhaust and a Ford-patented anti-lag system. Plus, it features an RTR-specific tune for the stability control system and the optional MagneRide dampers.

In terms of styling, the Mustang RTR receives the GT’s front fascia with illuminated nostrils, Dark Anodized side mirrors and pony badges, and RTR graphics. It also comes with 19-inch Tarnished Dark Anodized wheels and Avalanche Gray exterior color. You can also add Hyper Lime brake calipers and exterior graphics. Inside, the Hyper Lime accents continue with the seat belts, stitching, and drift brake lever. It also includes a serialized dash plaque, illuminated sill plates, and unique welcome/farewell infotainment graphics.
The 2026 RTR model marks the second time Ford has sold a factory-spec Mustang co-created with an outside partner. It also marks the third high-performance model in the current generation, joining the GTD and Dark Horse.
