The 2026 Subaru Impreza remains the only compact car to offer AWD standard. For the new model year, it returns with only two trims: Sport and RS. Yup, Subaru discontinued the base trim. Pricing now starts at $27,790 for the Sport trim. An option $1,900 package that adds a moonroof, blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, illuminated vanity mirrors, and the All-Weather package. The latter bundles together heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
On the other hand, the RS costs $30,690. A $2,070 option package adds a moonroof, a power driver’s seat, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. Fully loaded, the Impreza can run up to $33,000. Additionally, the RS model includes unique details like black and red cloth sport seats and faux carbon fiber interior trim. For 2026, Citron Yellow joins the list of exterior color options, but it’ll cost you an extra $395. Every Impreza now comes standard with an 11.6-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All models also include the EyeSight driver assistance suite.

2026 Subaru Impreza: Familiar Engines, One Body Style
Two boxer four-cylinder engines remain available with a CVT as the only transmission option. Both models also include paddle shifters. The Sport has a 2.0-liter unit with 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Impreza RS has a 2.5-liter engine making 180 hp and 178 lb-ft. If the RS’s output sounds less, that’s because it is by 2 hp. Subaru recently revised that engine to make its peak torque at a lower RPM. Meanwhile, power goes to all four wheels via the company’s Symmetrical AWD system.
The 2026 Subaru Impreza goes on sale in the fall. As before, it remains hatchback only. Subaru discontinued the sedan body style with the introduction of the current sixth generation for the 2024 model year.
