2027 Kia Seltos

Hot on the heels of the Telluride, Kia dropped some very revealing teasers of the 2027 Seltos. Now entering its second generation, the new Seltos makes its world debut on December 10. The automaker says that the new model blends the ruggedness of past internal combustion SUVs with the sophisticated design of its latest EVs. Based on the teaser photos, we think this looks like a baby Telluride. If you ask us, that’s not a bad thing at all!

The four teaser shots of the 2027 Kia Seltos show a lot of detail. One image clearly shows a taillight design that borrows heavily from the K4 hatchback. Meanwhile, the front end looks similar to the 2027 Telluride with its vertical LED headlight strips. Additionally, it takes cues from the Sportage, with the main projector headlight integrated into the grille. The Telluride vibes continue once you see the side profile image showing the Seltos’ boxy, upright profile and flush door handles. It also keeps the floating roof design, meaning the two-tone options are likely to return.

Like its larger sibling, the second-generation Seltos will introduce distinctive trims. These include the rugged X-Line and sporty-looking GT-Line. With the discontinuation of the Soul, the 2027 Seltos effectively becomes the entry point to Kia’s SUV lineup in North America. We recently got word that it’s also getting a hybrid powertrain, putting it squarely with the Subaru Crosstrek and Toyota Corolla Cross. However, that may mean the Niro isn’t long for this world either.

Additionally, the introduction of a hybrid powertrain could mean the end of the turbocharged option. Currently, the Seltos offers one on higher trims. The arrival of a Seltos Hybrid could make it the ideal pick for those wanting to maximize fuel efficiency and have more power all at once.
