Gotta love software updates! They let automakers push key revisions and upgrades to vehicles without going to the dealership service center. Heck, it can even add new functions and features! That’s what Volvo is doing for the ES90, EX60, and EX90. A newly release software update just added new functions to both SUVs.
Let’s start with the safety stuff first. Volvo expanded the capabilities of its driver assistance features. The Large Animal Alert can now warn other drivers if a large animal is detected on or near the road ahead. Additionally, Vulnerable Road User Alert can warn other drivers if pedestrians and cyclists are detected at or near roadways. This update also includes Roadwork Alert, which can warn drivers of roadwork ahead. Finallly, Accident Ahead Alert can warn of accidents ahead. The system uses real-time data from connected Volvo cars or traffic management centers.
The four features will come through an over-the-air update for the ES90, EX60, and EX90. These complement Slippery Road Alert and Hazard Light Alert, providing clear early warning. Moreover, they help enhance the driver assistance system’s functionality during low visibility conditions and poor weather. Today, over one million Volvo vehicles have activated connected safety tech. Furthermore, these vehicles can share data with vehicles from other brands and national traffic management centers.
In addition to driver assistance features, Volvo improved the listening experience on the EX90. Models equipped with the 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system now come with Spatial Audio support. Powered by Dolby Atmos, this feature adds depth and detail to everything you’re listening to. As a result, the media feels richer and more immersive. Spatial Audio initially debut on the EX60 with the 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system. The ES90 eventually followed, and now the EX90 as part of this update.
