When a new or updated GLE SUV debuts, chances are the coupe version isn’t far behind. In this case, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 2027 GLE Coupe alongside its more practical sibling. It, too, features the same new front fascia with a grille packing a ton of three-pointed stars. Not enough for you? The headlights and taillights also have three-pointed star patterns in them. Unlike the standard GLE, the GLE Coupe features more muscular wheel arches and a low-slung, coupe-like roofline.
Inside, the GLE Coupe features a new Beech Brown color option paired with black, as well as two natural grain wood trim choices: Brown Walnut and Dark Brown Birch. In case you’re not a fan of wood, polished aluminum trim with light flowing lines is also available. For a more open cabin feel, the GLE Coupe comes standard with a panoramic sunroof that has over 10.8 square feet of glass. Mercedes also made the AMG Line design treatment standard, which adds standard contoured sport seats.
On the infotainment front, MB. OS uses artificial intelligence to enable new capabilities. These include over-the-air updates for the entire vehicle and integration with the Mercedes-Benz Cloud. Additionally, the MBUX Superscreen comes standard, housing three 12.3-inch displays all under one glass panel. Meanwhile, the MBUX AI assistant combines Microsoft, Google, and ChatGPT, allowing for more complex conversations.
2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe: One Way Only
Unlike its SUV counterpart, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe only comes in GLE 450 guise. That means it features a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with 375 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes says this setup can hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. It also has a 48-volt mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator, making 23 hp and 151 lb-ft. Meanwhile, 4Matic AWD comes standard. For improved ride and handling, the available Airmatic air suspension system can anticipate the road ahead and adjust damping for every driving scenario.
On the driver assistance front, the GLE Coupe comes standard with the MB. Drive suite. The system features up to five sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors working together with the new water-cooled high-performance supercomputer. Optional extras include MB. DRIVE ASSIST and MB. DRIVE ASSIST PRO, both of which have additional functions. The latter will gain a CITY PRO feature that allows for point-to-point driving even in dense traffic. Every GLE Coupe also comes standard with an automatic parking system called MB. DRIVE PARKING ASSIST.
Expect the 2027 GLE Coupe to arrive in the U.S. later this year.
