Hyundai has officially revealed the 2027 Tucson, and it looks like the Crater Concept upsized to a compact SUV. That means bold, muscular, and totally in your face. Nothing out there looks like the Tucson with its H-shaped front and rear lighting, bulging fender flares, and upright profile. This thing commands attention with its futuristic look. Fresh exterior colors like Ranger Green, Kodiak Blue, Red Rock Orange, and Driftwood Gray further elevate the Tucson’s presence.
Compared to the outgoing Tucson, the new generation grows in size. Specifically, the 2027 Hyundai Tucson is 2.3 inches longer, 1.5 inches wider, and 0.7 inches taller. It’s closing in on midsize two-row territory. Inside, the Tucson follows the same minimalist layout as recent Hyundai vehicles. It features a squared-off steering wheel and a 9.9-inch digital gauge cluster. It even comes with an extended center armrest and the Multi-Mode Air System, which maximizes comfort by optimizing climate control airflow through multiple vents. You can also opt for 13.5V metal-coated heated glass for 15-minute de-icing in cold weather and a cooler cabin in the summer.
On the infotainment front, the 2027 Tucson features Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect interface. Depending on the market, it comes with either a 12.9-inch or 17-inch touchscreen. Gleo AI also comes standard, allowing drivers to simply ask for directions using natural speech. Meanwhile, the Tucson’s driver assistance suite now includes an available Smart Terrain Assist system that assesses traction and slip conditions on the road and provides the necessary guidance. Additionally, Target Speed Control keeps you at your set speed according to terrain conditions. Furthermore, the class-first Memory Reversing Assist can automatically record driving and assist with steering while backing out of narrow spaces. Finally, Trailer Reverse Assist helps you easily line up your Tucson with a trailer.

2027 Hyundai Tucson: Proven Powertrains
Under the hood are the typical Hyundai Motor Group powertrain suspects. Hybrid models feature an updated setup good for between 233 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic comes standard on the Tucson Hybrid. On the other hand, the gas models see the return of the 1.6-liter turbo-four paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This version makes 184 hp and 195 lb-ft.
For a more rugged Tucson, the XRT and XRT PRO models have your name on it. These feature all-terrain tires and a 1.1-inch suspension lift for added ground clearance. Hybrid models feature the E-Traction system, which increases inner tire grip when cornering. Additional hybrid-exclusive features include a Stay mode that runs the climate controls and electronics while the vehicle is off.
In terms of efficiency, Hyundai expects the 2027 Tucson to receive an EPA-estimated rating of up to 28 mpg combined on gas models. On the other hand, the hybrid model is expected to hit 42 mpg with FWD, as long as you stick with the smaller 17-inch alloy wheels.
Expect the 2027 Tucson to arrive in showrooms starting next year.
