Genesis X Skorpio Concept

Genesis X Skorpio Concept is a Bonkers Off-Road Coupe

The next iteration of the Genesis X Concept series arrives as the rugged Skorpio. Revealed at the Rub’ al Khali “Empty Quarter” desert, this latest evolution of Genesis’ show car highlights what extreme off-road performance can look like. This coupe draws inspiration from black scorpions, showcasing a tough yet sleek exterior. It features wide fenders, a long hood, and a short decklid, all of which give the X Skorpio a sculpted look. Additionally, a functional roof air intake highlights its combination of form and function.

As with the other Genesis X concept cars, the Skorpio features familiar details. These include the signature two-line design that marries the headlights and taillights together. Meanwhile, the interior looks like a proper premium space designed to maximize comfort during off-road driving. It even integrates the instrument cluster into the steering wheel and has a sliding display. The latter can be reconfigured if there’s one or two passengers onboard. Additionally, the seats feature stitch patterns inspired by scorpions and featurematte and glossy trim finishes to match the black exterior.

Genesis X Skorpio Concept

To match its aggressive looks, the Genesis X Skorpio comes packing serious power. Hiding under the hood is a high-performance V8 engine with a whopping 1,100 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. All of that gets to the road via 18-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in custom 40-inch off-road tires. A raised suspension and Brembo brakes help you stop and attack every trail confidently. Meanwhile, high-clearance fenders and skid plates ensure you don’t break anything while driving in the dirt.

Will Genesis build the X Skorpio Concept? I doubt it. The last few concept cars that wore the X moniker never quite made it to production. Think of this more as a study showcasing what’s possible when a brand goes all out with a car.
