The second vehicle developed from the partnership of Ford and RTR Vehicles has arrived. For 2027, the Ford Bronco RTR offers another flavor to the SUV’s rugged capability. This time, it splits a happy medium between value and high-speed off-road capability since it’s based on the Big Bend trim. Bilstein shocks, rock rings, and 33-inch comes standard, the latter of which can be upgraded to 35 inches. This new variant also features an updated Sasquatch package, which includes the HOSS 3.0 suspension and Fox Internal Bypass dampers.
Under the hood, the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR uses the familiar 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-four. Paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, this mill makes 275 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque on regular gas in its standard form. Feed it premium, and that goes up to 300 hp and 325 lb-ft. Ford and RTR purposely chose this engine to keep weight down. As a result, the Bronco RTR’s lighter front end makes it more flickable when driving in the dunes. Additionally, it feels more like a desert pre-runner rather than an old school rock crawler.

To handle the rigors of high-speed off-road driving, Ford and RTR made updates to the engine. This includes the addition of the Bronco Raptor’s 1,000-watt cooling fan. It also includes a software-operated anti-lag system derived from racing. This gives the Bronco RTR instant power when needed to power out of a soft sand wash. Ford did not disclose if these upgrades increased the engine’s output compared to the base engine.
In terms of design details, the Bronco RTR includes model-specific Evo 6 wheels and heritage-inspired wheel arches. The SUV also includes plenty of Hyper Lime accents and topographic-style graphics. Expect the Bronco RTR to go on sale later this year as part of the 2027 Bronco lineup.
