For 2026, the Kia Sorento family sees several equipment upgrades across the lineup. On the gas models, the X-Line EX and SX trims now come standard with the Bose premium audio system. The latter also now comes standard with a heated steering wheel, rear integrated sun blinds, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Moving down to the middle of the lineup, the EX trim now offers a Premium package, which includes a panoramic sunroof, the Bose premium audio system, and second row captain’s chairs.
As for the Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models, Kia also added some changes for 2026. Like the gas model, the EX trim for both electrified models now offers the Premium package and includes the same features. At the the of the lineup is the new X-Line SX Prestige (SXP) trim. This includes dark gunmetal exterior details, X-Line badges replacing the HEV and PHEV badges, gloss black window surrounds and roof rails, and gloss black side mirror covers. The X-Line SX Prestige trim also comes with 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels.

2026 Kia Sorento: A Strong Value
Pricing starts at $33,635 for the base LX gas trim. The range-topping X-Pro SX Prestige trim with the rugged details and all-terrain tires costs just over $49,000. Meanwhile, the Sorento Hybrid starts at $40,335 for front-drive EX trim. Add $1,800 if you want AWD. The X-Line SX Prestige trim, which comes standard with AWD, costs $48,635. That’s a bargain considering it gets virtually every bell and whistle available.
For those wanting the versatility of a plug, the Sorento PHEV starts at $49,735 for the EX trim. The X-Line SX Prestige checks in at just under $55,000. Keep in mind that all Sorento PHEVs come standard with AWD, which now includes a Terrain mode. It also includes a standard dual-voltage charging cable for 2026. Additionally, like the standard hybrid, the PHEV comes very well equipped from the get-go. Its range-topping model also comes with virtually every feature available.
Expansive Powertrain Options
In terms of powertrain options, gas models come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder in two flavors. The naturally aspirated unit on the LX and S trims has 191 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the turbocharged version on higher trims has 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The non-turbo model comes with a traditional torque converter eight-speed automatic transmission, while turbo variants have an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. In terms of efficiency, the non-turbo variant is EPA-rated at 23/31/26 mpg city/highway combined with FWD or 23/28/25 with AWD. Opting for the turbo models drops the ratings down to 20/29/27 mpg with FWD or 20/27/23 with AWD.
Both electrified Sorento variants use a 1.6-liter turbo-four coupled to a six-speed automatic, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery. The standard Sorento Hybrid makes 227 hp and 258 lb-ft. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 37/36/37 mpg for FWD models or 32/35/34 mpg with AWD
On the other hand, the Sorento PHEV uses a more powerful electric motor and a 14-kWh traction battery, upping its horsepower rating to 261, while torque stays the same. However, due to its battery’s larger energy capacity, it can go 31 miles in all-electric mode according to the EPA. In hybrid mode, the Sorento PHEV has an EPA rating of 33/34/33 mpg.
