Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition

Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition Channels Its Outdoorsy Side

The SEMA Show is all about getting to see what’s possible when the aftermarket goes all-in on customizability. It’s also a place for automakers to show off their partnerships and in-house capabilities. That’s why you see concepts like the Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition. Think of this as the Corolla Cross dressed up for overlanding. Designed and built by Toyota’s Service Parts and Accessories Development (SPAD) team, the Nasu Edition pays tribute to Mt. Nasu, a popular hiking spot in Japan.

The Toyota Corolla Cross Nasu Edition features a custom lifted suspension to give it extra ground clearance. Additionally, it features Toyo Open Country A/T III all-terrain tires. Under the hood, it’s the same fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System found in the Corolla Cross Hybrid. That combined a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with three electric motors for a total output of 196 horsepower. This also means it comes standard with AWD, but unlike a mechanical setup, this configuration simply mounts the third electric motor on the Corolla Cross’s rear axle.

Outside, the Nasu Edition features a one-off body kit with a hood scoop. It’s also painted in purple, a nod to nasu, which means eggplant in Japanese. On top of that, literally, is a cargo basket, a modified articulating roof rack set, and rock sliders. Inside, the Corolla Cross Nasu Edition even includes a custom drawer setup in the cargo area and a fridge on a sliding tray. In terms of lighting, the Corolla Cross Nasu Edition has fog lights, puddle lamps, and a modified Toyota lightbar. Inside, custom illuminated door sills and cargo sills help spruce up the cabin.

Since this is a SEMA build, don’t expect this to go into full production. However, some of its design elements may end up in the production Corolla Cross in the future.
