Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is a Pint-Sized Forbidden Fruit

The Land Cruiser family grows again! Toyota just revealed the new FJ model, a small SUV that takes all of the design details and ruggedness of its larger siblings. Featuring a boxy profile and plenty of retro cues, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ goes all in on heritage. It even offers square or rounded headlight options that pay homage to past Land Cruiser models and heritage-style Toyota badge.

Owners can also remove the front and rear bumpers, allowing for easy replacement in case they’re damaged on the trail. This customizability also allows for extensive personalization, allowing owners to truly make their vehicles their own. Toyota has an extensive list of accessories to help owners create uniquely styled FJs. These include MOLLE panels for outdoor equipment, a snorkel, and other unique parts that highlight the SUV’s rugged capabilities.

Inside, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has a similar interior layout to the larger 250 Series currently sold in North America. The big differences include a shorter center console and a smaller digital gauge cluster. Meanwhile, the main touchscreen looks like the same 12.3-inch unit that’s optional on our Land Cruiser here. Under the skin, the Land Cruiser FJ uses the same platform as the IMV series vehicles for optimum off-road capability. It features a short wheelbase that helps ensure good maneuverability and a small turning radius. Additionally, the FJ has extra bracing under the floor, improving body rigidity and handling stability.

Power comes from a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with 163 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission available is a six-speed automatic, while part-time 4WD comes standard on all Land Cruiser FJs. However, don’t expect this cute SUV to come to North America because it’s made specifically for other global markets. It goes on sale in Japan in mid-2026.
