2026 Audi A6 First Look: Refined Luxury

Audi’s A6 midsize sedan lineup just expanded with the arrival of the ninth-generation gas-powered model, joining the all-electric e-tron Sportback. The 2026 Audi A6 follows the brand’s evolutionary design changes, looking like an update to the outgoing model. Smoother lines and softer creases enhance its tasteful appearance, all while remaining recognizable as an A6. Audi’s characteristic design details, such as the single-frame grille, complement the air curtains positioned under the headlights.

Inside, the gas-powered 2026 Audi A6 has a similar interior layout to its all-electric sibling. It features up to three screens: a 14.5-inch main touchscreen, an 11.9-inch digital gauge cluster, and an optional 10.9-inch front passenger display. It also features incredible ambient lighting that’s sure to impress passengers. Every model comes standard with Audi’s MMI interface, while a head-up display is available as an option. Additionally, an available Bang & Olufsen premium audio system promises an incredible listening experience through 16 or 20 speakers, depending on the trim.

For maximum comfort, the 2026 A6 offers features like heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, and a heated steering wheel. Some trims also include heated rear seats, massaging front seats, and soft-close doors. Meanwhile, available leather sport front seats up the comfort with pneumatic side bolster adjustments. For those wanting more pizzazz, Audi offers that on the Prestige trim through the Exclusive Design Package. That adds gold and blue stitching and extended leather throughout the cabin. On the other hand, sound insulation sees a 30 percent improvement over the outgoing model.

2026 Audi A6: One Engine, Sharper Chassis

At launch, the 2026 Audi A6 only offers one engine: a familiar 3.0-liter turbo V6 with 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. That’s an increase of 27 hp and 37 lb-ft over the outgoing model. The only transmission is a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic, which puts power down through Audi’s Quattro AWD system. Audi says the new A6 can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 130 mph.

In the ride and handling front, the A6 gains new agility-enhancing options. These include adaptive air suspension with electronically controlled dampers and all-wheel steering. For the first time, the A6 also plucks some go-fast goodies from the high-performance S6, including the sport rear differential and all-wheel steering. Additionally, the A6 also offers a sport suspension option that lowers the car by 20 mm. This works in conjunction with the AWD system, which can split power in a 30/70 front-to-rear bias for added precision. Meanwhile, brake-based torque vectoring and a progressive steering system further sharpen the sedan’s dynamic prowess.

Pricing for the 2026 Audi A6 starts at $65,395 for the base Premium grade. The Premium Plus and Prestige trims cost $68,795 and $72,695, respectively. Every model also comes with a full suite of driver assistance features. These include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition. Premium Plus and Prestige models can also be equipped with a surround view camera system, Adaptive Cruise Assist, and Park Assist Plus. The gas-powered 2026 A6 goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2025.
